Should I take ds to doctor this morning?

He's got a temp (mid 38 now, was mid 39 last night). Not very happy, off food but bfing still. His sister and my dh have had hideous colds and he's been snotty/eyes streaming. Should I make an emergency appointment? Thanks, Dinny

If he is still feeding then he is getting fluids and maybe it is just a cold. Could he have Calpol?

I would, just to check there's no infection in his ears and chest. Better to be safe with young babies IMO.

I used to take dd in for a throat and ears and chest check whenever she showed signs of s erious cold and temp, now shes 3 I worry a little less though.

Oh, poor little chap - I'd be tempted to take him just to check his chest, throat and ears are clear. Hope he's better soon.

How old is he Dinny? I would be tempted to leave it as he has presumably caught the cold that your family has. The temperature is the reason he is not eating, but as long as he is still breastfeeding, you know he is getting the fluids he needs. If it is any consolation to you, my ds3 (fourth child) had a new cold/cough every 2 weeks throughout the autumn, winter and spring of his first year - caught from older siblings.

Sorry, didn't say how old he is (15 months nearly). He's so miserable, clingy. Am taking him to doctor this morning, just to check. We spent Tuesday pm in A&E as he'd swallowed part of a plastic spoon. Am paranoid it's stuck and that's why he's upset. But he's done at least 4 poos since then. `Am also paranoid it's his old problem (he had an op for a fistula-in-ano) resurfacing, which has happened twce before. Feel at end of tether atm. We are also moving house on Saturday and I am so scared of not being just down the road from excellent teaching hospital. Someone tell me things will get better

Thanks everyone, took ds to GP this morning and he has bit of an inflamed ear. GP wants to see how he is tomorrow. All in front of his ear is a bit red when not on Calpol/Nurofen.

He's gone to sleep OK tonight so am praying he gets a good night's sleep as last night was awful.

btw, just had neighbours pop round bringing us Veuve as a goodbye - one is doctor of infectious diseases and she was pretty sure bird flu was a when not if. Something else to worry about, hey.....??
