Have got one in the morning and am dreading it! Thinking paracetamol might make it less uncomfortable?

It shouldn't be so painful that you need painkillers. The main thing is to try and relax, if you are tense it will be uncomfortable. If its painful tell the nurse. It also helps to put both your hands into fists and put them under your lower back as it helps to tilt your cervix making the instruments easier to insert. You could take paracetamol before if you think it will help though, there's no reason why you can't but in my experience it really shouldn't cause pain. There may be others with different experiences though.

Take 'calms' to help you relax a little.

Half a temazepam always works best for me.

Don't know whether paracetamol works. They refused me an epidural for one. Grin

my GP gave me diazepan (sp?) before mine - it was fine, no discomfort whatsoever.
