So do I, so do I, can't see that it wouldn't.

misdee · 26/11/2005 11:14

Ian Brown had Leukemia, misdee, he needed a bone marrow transplant, the local people raised a lot of money and about 400 people went onto the bone marrow list. Unfortunely for Ian, he didn't get a match from any of the local people, but I believe he did a transplant. He died a few months back after the leukemia came back.
I went to the stripper show that was put on to raise money for him

Tamba · 26/11/2005 11:55

Misdee, how do you get on the bone marrow donor list?

I really hope going to the papers works, love and light xxxxx

Elibean · 26/11/2005 13:20

Oh I hope it helps too...at least it can't hurt, hey. I'm banned from donating marrow (previous illness) but think there should be a much higher profile for donating in general. Thinking of you xx

misdee · 26/11/2005 14:30

we dont need bone marrow donors, we need a heart for peter. but i am sure we can squeeze i na sentance about the need for ALL donors, blood, bone marrow and organ.

Hope that it all goes well misdee, I'm sure it will spur people on. I'm on the regester.....dh can't and thankfully he has a brother who matches his bone marrow if he ever needs it. But a big thank you to everyone who is on the Bone marrow regester...I'm too old now!

Elibean · 26/11/2005 17:17

Misdee, sorry - I wrote a confusing post (lack of sleep). I know you need a heart for Peter, and oh how I hope he gets one soon. My neice's BF needs lungs, eventually, so I'm just aware of the donor shortage generally...plus was picking up on other posts about bone marrow donation. Hope the press do a great job for you.

PeachyPlumFairy · 26/11/2005 17:40

Go for it, fight every corner you can. Maybe it'll give Peter a feeling that he's doing something too, which I know can be important when you're you're stuck there waiting.

mymama · 26/11/2005 23:41

Go for it misdee. Anything to help raise awareness of organ donation is a good thing. Will there be a photo of Peter???

misdee · 26/11/2005 23:42

i am going to contact the paper on monday/tuesday to pitch the idea to them.
