Purple toes, is it just me?

On my left foot I have two toes which are a horrid purple at the ends. I suffer very easily from chilblains in the winter, and last year got that dead white finger thing, which was horrid Sad

It must be a circulation thing I think. Can I do anything to actually improve them? Its not worth a GP trip is it?

Googled now. I suspect it's circulation.

probably raynauds. don't worry too much but do make an appointment and chat it over with your gp.

RatherBeOnThePea · 11/07/2011 17:41

I actually will thank you, I never go to the docs, but I will. For the first time last winter I got those dead white fingers, really weird, and that is likely to be R too I think..

let us know how you get on :)

RatherBeOnThePea · 11/07/2011 18:26

Aww, that is so kind, thank you, I will..
When I googled it came up with all sorts! But I don't think I have a heart condition....

Let us know how you get on - it's better to go to GP with a niggle, than ignore a potential problem

RatherBeOnThePea · 12/07/2011 16:05

Well bless you, I have made an appointment for 22nd in the afternoon, because it's really not an emergency, so that was the first bookable appointment. I will be glad to go now, especially as they were ever so purple today

Thank you for being kind Blush x

I have just been and she has referred me for blood tests and on the form she wrote severe reynaulds although she only referred to it as reynaulds. She has also given me some info to read and a prescription for a drug to dilate capillaries. I am really loathed to take anything tbh. I might read the stuffand put out a thread to see if anyone has reynaulds with ideas.

She felt my toes and said they were like ice cubes, way too cold Sad
but thank you for making me go Grin I appreciate it.

nifedepine? it can take a little bit of getting used to, so when you start it give it a little time as the side effects (if you get any) usually settle down.

with raynauds it is important to keep an eye on any cuts or injuries you get to your feet, it can take longer for them to heal and be more prone to infection.

Do follow up the blood test results.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 22/07/2011 18:16

Thank you....

Yes that is the drug - she said headaches were the most likely side effect. I'm just loathed to take something for ever more. Although she said some people only take it in the winter.

Yes I will have the blood tests done and I have to go back and see her. I don't ever go to the docs and feel really fed up with this. But thank you.
