First period after giving birth ?

I think I have got my first period but it has been so long since I last had one I am not 100% sure! I had two days of mild tummy pains followed by light pinky bleed which is now bright red but still fairly light this has been 2 days and usually my period would be heavy by now. The cramps went once the bleed started which i also find strange. I only ask if this is normal because I have had some spotting on and off before now which I think is due to the fact my stitches didn't heal properly.

I gave birth 3 months ago but have not 100% breastfed throughout.

I can only speak from experience, but my 1st period was very heavy. Plus 6 to 9 months after birth, but I did breastfeed.

Periods are weird after childbirth, they take a while to settle down into "normal". And you may find you have a new "normal" now, anyway.

Thats what I figured, after months without having one shouldn't it probably be heavy? Guess its diff for diff people though ...

oops missed the other messages, I'm just so sick of going to the GP! will give it a couple of days and then maybe ring for advice if it still seems weird.

The post-baby bleeding i thought finished at the weekend but started bleeding again yesterday. Still very pinky/dishchargy.... is it my period or still post-baby?! HELP!

Nothing is wierd after giving birth. Just been through the same thing. Hit me like a brick about three months after birth - just hope it settles down soon.

J&R mummy I think yours is post baby I bled for 6 weeks which is slightly longer than usual but it did stop and start towards the end. You should be having your 6 week check soon so doc will go over that with you.

Beachyhead was yours a period or still postbirth?

I have just been given an appointment to get things checked out week after next so will wait and see how things go.

had dd2 by elec c-section 8 weeks ago tomorrow. had post-birth bleeding on and off for 5 weeks, which wasn't too bad.

last week started getting very dark gunky (sorry) brown/red stuff which carried on until yesterday and then it has turned into a very heavy bleed which looks to me like a period. It's much heavier than the bleeding i had post birth but not painful. have felt very pmt-y last few days though. I'm due to start taking mini-pill soon and think it has to be taken in conjunction with end or start of period so do i treat this as my 1st period?
