TOOTH EXTRACTION UNDER SEDATION!!!

littlemum007 · 07/07/2011 10:33

I'm a grown up Mum and petrified of the dentist - haven't been for 20 years until 5 days ago - currently in pain and have been urgently recommended to Queen Alexandras Hospital in Portsmouth (Southampton?) for top, left, back extraction under GA - I'm being admitted as an excessively nervous patient - I had a bad experience 20 years and never went back.... Can anyone allay my fears - I worry that i might not wake up and my son will wonder where I am.

I'm sorry, I don't know what they would do instead Sad.
I'd give them a call and ask them. Good luck.

When my DD had a tooth out under sedation, it took 3 adults to enable it to happen. One babysitter for toddler (no siblings allowed at surgery); one adult to drive car; one adult to sit in back in case DD has a bad reaction. It was all fine in the end - just a logistical nightmare.

Suddenly, I feel very sorry for myself.... I really don't have anyone.. except for my 13 year old (really, I'd rather pretend I'm just totally fine than involve him) - I have telephoned them and all they've said is that they'll call me a cab (because I meet the criteria) - they've not mentioned that I can't go home without help.... what in god's name shall I do... I've got my brother in Australia and my Mum in Blackheath (well over the hill) - Ive never really ever made friends because of the single mother syndrome.... Oh, I fucking hate everyone

You can all fuck off and go to hell for all I care

dd did this as a teenager and i had to drag her to the car stumbling and falling - it was a nightmare.

i would insist that they agree you stay there until you can walk unaided. then all your 13 yr old has to do is be there to make juice and soup etc Grin

hester · 27/07/2011 23:30

ok, calm down littlemum. First of all you need to ring them back and double-check they will let you leave on your own. Then you need to come back to this thread and say what they've told you and we'll help you think through the solution Smile

Tortington · 27/07/2011 23:30

fuck you too

SchrodingersMew · 27/07/2011 23:49

What a lovely person...
If they just call you a cab and let you go on your own then they are not worth going to and putting your life at risk.

Biscuit

Don't understand why you are getting abusive. Not sure what you want from us that you haven't already had.

TheWolfpack · 28/07/2011 00:02

Hardly any wonder you've got no friends....

SchrodingersMew · 28/07/2011 00:04

Oh and btw, if you had taken care of your teeth you might not be in such a predicament. You're obviously not a very nice person so I have no sympathy for you anymore.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 28/07/2011 04:00

Wow you lot are lovely. I would imaging that the op is scared shitless and panicking. After all, isn't that the whole point of this thread?

TheWolfpack · 28/07/2011 07:59

Why would being scared shitless make you tell everyone who has been helping you to fuck off and go to hell?

SchrodingersMew · 28/07/2011 11:42

There's been plenty of times I have been scared shitless and have asked for advice on here. I have never told anyone who replies to fuck off.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 28/07/2011 12:09

You don't think that the perfectly reasonable and lucid posts up till a really panicky one late at night is any kind of a clue to her state of mind then? You can see the panic building.

I've been there, it is terrifying. I've said some awful things to DH before my major dentist trip in 20 years, simply because despite his soothing noises, he couldn't do it for me. I wanted to die I was so scared.

TheWolfpack · 28/07/2011 12:15

If that is the case, and the OP is genuinely so distressed that she has turned to insulting people for no reason, then she needs to get off MN and seek out some serious professional help.
