anyone not happy with the coil?

I had the coil fitted about 3 years ago before that I was on the pill. As I am now 41 and have two children it was recommended the coil. I have never been entirely happy with it. For the first 6 months I had this awful discharge, heavy and pianful periods and my cycle is now 21 days. When I am not bleeding I seem to have thrush. I am really down about it and obviously as a result my sex life has suffered.

I have been back once to complain but I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience and what do you do. Can I go back on the pill? I live in Jersey and so the cost of the docs is £35 and this is why I haven't really been back to complain but I really need to do something about it now.......

I had the Mirena and it was truly awful with many side effects and bleeding/gunky, bloody discharge for 9 months. Best thing about it was having it removed.

I have a Mirena coil and seem to be doing okay. But I've read other threads where people said their first coil was fine and their second one was awful. I think it can be a bit hit and miss tbh.

If you are not happy with yours though, I think you should consider another form of contraception. You shouldn't have to put up with constant discomfort in one form or another for that long. Would injections or an implant maybe suit you better?

I had the copper coil and used to bleed very heavily. I ended up anaemic and had it removed. Periods are now back to normal and I feel fine.
