Sick of being in pain

I was diagnosed with T.M.J dysfunction early 2010 and had to have athroscopic irrigation.
My facial muscles had locked in spasm and had pulled my joint out of line.
At the same time i also developed neck and shoulder pain on the same side.I also have nerve pain in my wrist and numbness/tightness down my arm.
I have had nerve tests which were clear and have had physio.
The consultant i'm under for my jaw said there was absolutely no connection with the neck and shoulder pain.Yet i am convinced that my neck muscle triggers my facial spasms.
My face muscles are in spasm againand i cannot relax them.
I am in pain most of the time and lying on my shoulders in bed hurts, yet if i lie on my back it then hurts my neck.
I apply heat and am taking pain killers every day and i'm behaving like a bear with a sore head

Please does anyone have any ideas about what this could be?

I will be going back to G.P but wondered if anyone could suggest anything.

This sounds really awful, and sorry I've no idea what it might be, but I think it would be worth having acupuncture and/or asking GP for Pain Clinic referral.

Hello, don't know if this is relevant, but I have scoliosis and a tendency to have my right shoulder/neck going into spasm. I can feel it when it's just about to happen and have learnt to avert it by letting my jaw suddenly hang totally open and slack. (not a good look if you're in public!) So although it's kind of the opposite way round to your problem, I can absolutely agree that jaw, neck and shoulder muscles are all linked. xx

My face is swollen now on one side so i feel like a hamster
I managed to get a G.P appt this morn(not my choice of G.P but i was desperate) but came out in tears because he wasn't interested in any investigation and tried to fob me off with anti d's or anti epileptics to block nerves.I refused them but i am taking a stronger anti inflammetries(sp?)
I have made an appointment with a chiropractor so will have to try and find the money.

Can you find another GP? If your current one won't refer you maybe you should get a second opinion.

yes i am going to try and see one of the other G.P's in the practice but who knows when i will get to see them.

I know the reasons for offering the meds but i am reluctant to take them for a few reasons. I could understand this if all areas of investigation had been persued but they have not and according to him there is no other investigation as i have had the nerve test.

Have a look at Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Your symptoms seem to match lots of the symptoms which I am being assessed for after 8 months of pain. EMGs are normally clear and TMJ is also often suffered.

I am now on Gabapentin (anti-epileptic) and naproxen (NSAID). I'm not taking any ADs at the moment but have had amytriptiline and imipramine.

Dont be put off by the name "sports" Its just that they use the techniques mainly in the sporting field but everyone can benefit from sports massage. All the best.
