Wondering if anyone out there can advise me.

Brief story, since having cin3 and a colposcopy in June, I have had abnormal bleeding, been back and forth to the doctors/hospital and still not sorted.

I bleed heavily last weekend and was referred to the hospital by doctor on Monday afternoon. I was giving another colposcopy and he said that it was bleeding too heavily to have a proper look, he said he couldn't see anything and thought it might be a period.

My period usually last 4-5 days, this has been going on a lot longer, he did say he wanted to see me in 3 weeks and gave me 2 lots of pills to stop the bleeding.

I was given cyklokapron 500mg tablets (8 a day)
and norethisterone 5mg(2 a day), I started taking them on Tuesday am when I could get perscription.

I am still bleeding now, although not as heavy as I was, but enough to still concern me. I called the hospital yesterday and told the chap who is dealing with me only works there on Mondays, and she seemed to not be able to help me, only suggested I contact my doctor for advice, I called doctor and usual one is on Holiday and left with one who I don't like and treats people like you are wasting his time, even though he doesn't say anything (IYKWIM).

I just bascially wondered how long it takes for pills for work, and should I be concerned that I am still bleeding.

I do not want to put myself through the ordeal of going back to the hospital for another examination, if not necessary.

Obviously will contact hospital/doctors again, just wanted to know if anyone could help me here first.

Breeze I have been on (I,m 90% positive) the second lot you mentioned but 3 a day as I had period problems at the beginnning of the year.
I remember the bleeding stopping within a day or two.Hopefully the bleeding will stop shortly. Are you just spotting now. I would carry on as normal until Monday when the doc is in and see how you go.Hope everything goes well.
Sorry I cant be of more help.

Hi breeze, I'm a doctor - I would definately increase the norethisterone to 3 a day and continue with the cyclokapron until you contact the hosp doctors - although it's horrendous for you, it should settle down eventually - hang on in there!

Breeze as I mentioned earlier I had this prob at the beginning of the year.I was truly flooded off my feet for weeks. I had to wear a tampax and a super towel together and would have to change every half an hour to an hour.Sorry to be so graphic but it was very severe.
I went to the docs and she thought I might have fibroids as she said my womb was enlarged. She wanted me to go to see a consultant but I never got an appt. After the pills for a few months and a diary I had to keep it suddenly turned to normal.Doc thought it was an hormonal imbalance.

I must admit though I get scared when going out even now and wear protection just in case.

Breeze I sympathise with you as I know how dreadful it is, I just hope it gets sorted out soon.

BTW it was the second lot.I can remember now. It was 3 a day.

Thanks everyone, especially Morley.

went to the doctors who said basically I have not given the pills a chance to work, I said surely it would be worth increasing the dose on one to 3 a day and she said "Don't think you can do that", I do not think she was best pleased when I told her a doctor on mumsnet said I could, she looked in her book and then agreed I could do it. She is usually very nice and I found her today to be a bit annoying.

I told her I am feeling a little weak and she said I may be becoming aneamaic (sp) but no point doing a test as it wouldn't show up this soon, she advised multi-vitamins with iron and go back in 5 days if still the same.
