have this skin tag at the very top of my leg on the inside. it's been there since i was pregnant and no bother at all.
but last night i realised it was hurting and it's gone all puffy and inflamed and it really hurts to touch...

what do you think it is? will it kill me????/

Rubbing has probably irritated it, visit your Gp to get it removed.

They do this sometimes - it's not going to kill you! The GP can remove it, or you can do what my GP suggested - tie a bit of cotton around the bottom of it, stick a plaster on top, and it will fall off within a week.

yes, i was thinking about doing the cotton thing... but it hurts so much to touch at the mo..

do you think it'll settle down and then i can remove it?

The longer you leave it, the more chance you will have of rubbing it or catching it again. The ones I've had haven't settled down on their own, once they're sore they seem to stay sore so the sooner you get something done with it the better. A plaster on its own will stop it catching, but as soon as you take it off it will catch again.

That said, I've had a couple that I've just covered tightly with a plaster and they've turned black and fallen off on their own - takes about three weeks though!

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 22/11/2005 12:14

What's a tag?

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 22/11/2005 12:14

And can I do the cotton thing with moles?

starlover · 22/11/2005 12:15

yeah i have a plaster on at the moment... will try and be brave later and tie some cotton round!

cliff... i did the cotton thing with a mole.. but it probabbly isn't advised!

hi i had a skin tag in the same place as you have yours. Its caused by something rubbing you in that place and nothing to worry about. Mine got so red, large and painful that i had no other choice but to go to the doctors as it got to the stage that it hurt to walk, sit etc and i couldn't wear underwear. I had to wait an extra 10 weeks as they would not do it while i was pregnant.
To have it removed it is classed as a minor operation which is done at the doctors and not at all painful.
