My ds who is 10 months suffered from a fairly bad convulsion at weekend which scared me and my dh to death!! which is the best thermometer to buy for keeping a close eye on his temperature in future?

I'd say a digital one that you put in their ear. Quick, easy and accurate. They are pricey (£30 +) but once it's bought, it's bought.

Sorry I haven't. I've got the braun one, so it's a good name - it's on offer Here at Boots

I assume febrile convolsion? and not an epileptic fit? Febriles are always worrying but not so bad as they cool down the body. Did you have ds checked out yet?

I would recommend the Braun one too - it seems to be the one that hospitals use too. My ds used to suffer from febrile convulsions too, very scarey.

Janbo - I sympathise entirely with the shock you must have had. My DS had a couple of convulsions aged 2 (one on Christmas Day too for added effect!). He's not had once since (touch wood) and he's 4 now but recommend the Braun ear thermometer!

Doc at the hosp said tepid bath is the most effective way to bring down high temp - your child will cry but it's a case of cruel to be kind. Obviously not cool water, warmish but feels cold to them as they are burning hot.
