Mucus in newborn throat/ nose

My DS is 4 weeks old and is very snuffly. It sounds like he has mucus in nose/ throat. I think it wakes him up whilst sleeping, he sounds like he struggles a bit for breath. What is anything can I do?

Young babies often do sound a bit snuffly but you could try a couple of saline drops up each nostril just before a feed. This should help to losen any mucus and enable baby to shift it himself. saline nasal drops should be available from pharmacies. But if this doesn't help check with your health visitor or GP

Thankyou, have just ordered some. Hopefully it will do the trick.
