DS frequently has hard poo and constipation. It was quite bad for a while so the doctor gave us lactulose which helped but ds doesn't like taking it. When he eats I give him lots of fruit and veg but he still suffers. I am having difficulty getting him to drink anything other than breast milk and to top it all off he wakes up through out the night for boob. I am tired and feel so bad for him. Any suggestions???

how old is he ?
giving lots of fruit & veg is great, but make sure you don't give him too much constipating food, eg rice, bananas, dried apricots. And give him plenty of water.

if you think his diet is ok, I would push your gp to investigate more, constipation can be the symptom of an underlying health problem.

I know (only give him half a banana max/he is off dried apricots by himself)- I have been boiling up prunes and apples and giving him those and a little of the water in with his cool boiled water but he has never wanted anything other than breast milk. I have taken him to the GP sooooooo many times and they really don't seem concerned. THey only gave me the lactulose when his bumb started bleeding.

ds was constipted too. I cut out rice and banana and tried everything to get him to take more fluids.
I now dilute a diluted juice (I get hipp juices) and feed them to ds with a spoon.
He is much, much better now.
