Hysteroscopy tomorrow, period due, please help!

I am due to have a hysteroscopy tomorrow morning.
When I went for my pre-op, I told the nurse my period was due on the date in question, and she said that was ok, in her words 'we can't schedule surgery around menstrual cycles'.
Now I've just read online that if I am bleeding, they may not be able to do the procedure.
I have taken time off work, so has DH, sorted childcare for tomorrow etc.
Does anyone have experience of this?
I'm terrified anyway, but have mentally prepared myself for tomorrow.

Hi - i had exactly the same and it was fine. They'll ask you before you have it a huge list of questions, one being when was your last period. Just ask the nurse if you can keep your knickers on until you go in. I think it should be fine. Now if you had a cold....mine got cancelled because i had a slight sniffle. Hope it all goes ok.

I was told the same that its not a problem. If they are doing actual surgery down there they prefere you not to be on, but for hysteroscopy should be fine.

that depends on the surgery though - I had endometrial ablation done the day after I came on and it wasn't a problem. I can see how it might be for some types of surgery though.

Don't be terrified twirlymum - are you having an anaesthetic/sedation at all? I had mine done without any anaesthetic or sedation and it was totally fine. A bit of a 'ooooh' and a sharp intake of breath as it went in but no more really than when they start twiddling that damn brush around when you have a smear etc. They took my mirena out at the same time and that was the most painful bit tbh. Also if you don't have any anaesthetic/sedation you can watch on screen (not everyone's cup of tea I appreciate) but I thought getting to see my insides was incredibly cool

I had it done under GA, but unfortunately had a bad reaction to it (projectile vomiting ) so had to stay in overnight, but the actual procedure was fine.
