cerazette or coil or what??

Ive been on cerazette for nearly 3 months and im not sure about it. I feel 'drier' down there, almost sticky sometimes and my period was like a heavy brown discharge and it seems to be coming again after 2 weeks, my skin is great, weight hasn't increased but i was losing a pound a week before this pill. But the weirdest thing is I feel hormonal/teary often. I think about odd/stupid things and wind myself up and get tearful. Or I see a sad story/advert and feel weepy. Im also a bit lethargic and headachey too. I just don't want to perservere anymore...so what next the mirena??? isn't that just as bad?? or shall i see if DP will have the snip?? any thoughts

I didn't get on with cerazette either (constant bleeding). Unfortunately the mirena is likely to have the same effect as it's the same hormone. I now have a copper coil which is non-hormonal. I have to say I'm not liking it so far.......my periods are much longer and very heavy, although they have settled down after the first few months.

Our eventual plan is that DH will have the snip. Our youngest is only 15 months though so we need to wait a bit to be certain we don't want any more.

I would make an appointment to see your GP and discuss your options. Can you take a combined pill? I'm too old and fat apparently!

i had the mirena for heavy periods and it worked a treat...till it fell out.not just used for contraception but also to help with unexplained heavy bleeding (considering you,ve had a laparoscopy to rule anything out like fibroids etc)
the body is usually lacking progesterone causing you to become estrogen dominant and the uterine lining to thicken and thicken (hence heavy periods) progestone usually stops the lining getting too thick and makes it come away (the period) ,mine was lasting 3 weeks and i was severely anaemic.
had a second one put in but that fell out....was told it was because of a slight prolapse ,plus the large blood clot pushed the coil out!!! (sorry,too much info)
I think the Mirena is fab if you dont want any more children and are sick of the pill/condoms etc.Some women find it takes a while to settle down,but it lessened my period by 99 % ....it was fab.take strong painkiller for insertion though....i found it hurt....but only for a few seconds,more painful than a smear in my opinion.

I have the Mirena and it suits me really well; the hormone dose is lower as it is released in the right place and doesn't need to go through your whole body. I have few or no light periods and I don't have to remember to take pills. Other people don't like it, but it is worth a try - you can always get it taken out if you don't like it.
