If I miss a pill ........

Sorry for having to ask such a basic question but I have enough problems keeping track of my own hormones, without synthetic ones thrown into the mix!

I started taking the pill and I've missed one (about 24 hours late) so, am I likely to bleed? Or should I continue with the last few in the pack? For various reasons I'd rather be on next week so it suits me fine to allow it this week. Is this an option?

TIA!

I'd rather not be on next week! Much prefer to get it over with this week

You might bleed but you might not. I am terrible about remembering my pill at the moment. If i miss just one then I usually carry on as normal and dont bleed until i finish the packet. If I decide to stop when I miss one then I usually come on within about 3-4 days.

i think as amynixmum says if you want to come on then you will need to stop taking anymore of the packet, which puts you at risk of getting pregnant (assuming you don't want to) so use other precautions for 7 days and then start the next packet on teh first day of your period as if starting a new type of pill. (i'm sure this is the advice i was given at fp clininc)

Thanks Aloha, I'll go with that .

It's so long since I took it! I can't believe I can't remember the basics.

Just to mix you up further when I combine my packs I bleed for longer whilst still taking next pack. If you have never run them together before it may not suit you, but you won't know until you try.

can I recommend the vaginal ring? it's like the pill - lower hormones tho You just pop it up for 3 weeks, then remove it for a week for the bleed then pop new one in. simple & no worries about forgetting one. I'm really happy with t. no complaints. much easier than pill if you're a bit forgetty as my ds would say

BadgerBadger · 14/11/2005 18:08

lol A bit forgetty? I'm completely batty!

I've never heard of the vaginal ring as a substitute. Is it licensed in the UK? Or are you elsewhere? Many thanks for the tip!
