hopefully someone will think that title sufficiently intriguing to click on it...it's a very boring favour though! I'd like to compare the dosage of progestorone that yuo get with a mirena coil with what you get on the pill - and unbelievebly I can't find what the dosage of the pill is on the internet. Coudl some kind soul possibly have a look at their pill packet and let me know? many many thanks

OK, I have the leaflet from my

thanks Hulababy - yes it does. The mirena apparently gives you 20 mg of levonorgestrel. I've been feeling pretty crappy since having it put in and not sure to what extent to blame it on the hormones. I can't imagine what I'd be like on the pill. I'd probably have hit several people this w/e alone! thanks for checking for me.

The Mirena didn't agree with me either, so I switched to the pill. But both the specialists that I consulted (one in usa and one in uk) said that the problems that I was having had nothing to do with the MIrena and that the estrogen that you get from it is really only delivered locally and could not produce hormonal effects in the rest of the body. BUT both said that the problems that I was having were hormone related, but due to my age (early 40's) and not the Mirena. It was only coincidental that the Mirena went it around the same time. I just happened to have children in my late 30's and had the mirena put in straight after my second child, so it seemed like the problems were because of the Mirena, but actually they weren't.

it's very difficult to work out cause and effect isn;t it? I left my job and went back to study, and also had - shall we say - an upsetting encounter with a past life, all at the same time as having the mirena put in. Have been under piles of stress, weepy and angry. But this weekend, in particular I felt so full of rage (which isn't like me) I could just tell it was hormones. It was physical not emtional. Anyway, for some reason am feeling better now so I am hoping it is teething problems. (if a coil can have "teething" problems!) am prepared to give it 6 months or so.

The dosage of the progesterones will vary from pill type to pill type, because there are different progesterones.

Is it levenogestrel in the merina coil?
