Dentist question - crowned tooth is now really painful when biting. How can that be?

Surely there's no nerve in it to hurt? Do I have an abcess or something hideous.

Will it go away?

When did you have the crown fitted? I had one done last Wednesday and it's taken a few days to settle down. I guess they do a lot of poking around, and if you had a root filling directly before, it's probably still settling down.

Mine was re-crowned, so I didn't have the root canal work this time, but I did have the tooth built up, so I'm guessing there was a little bit of inflammation.

If you've had the crown for a while, then it might be worth going back to the dentist - my previous one became painful, then came out.

Not saying that this is what'll happen to yours, though!
