Anyone been to a Chiropodist?

Anyone been to a chiropodist (hope I've spelled that correctly)? Was it a one time thing, or do you go regularly - and if so, how often? Would you recommend it? Anything to be wary of? Approximately how much does it cost? And finally - anyone you can refer me to in London zone 1? Thanks. Your responses may set me on the path toward beautiful feet....

I've been - I used to go regularly but since I had dd I just squeeze it in when I can.

At first I saw mine once a month, because I had huge, sore cracks in my heels which were getting infected. It took her three or four sessions to get rid of my hooves and treat the , and after that, once every 6 to 8 weeks is fine, just to keep them under control (although these days I can't get there as often). She charged £20 for the initial consulatation and treatment, which took an hour, then £15 for each session (about 30 minutes) after that. I also ended up having to buy a tube of foot cream that she recommended, which I had to use every night with cotton socks for a month, and which I'm meant to use rather more frequently than I ever remember to!

My only problems have been when my first chiropodist attacked my ingrowing toenails; she actually made them worse, and I ended up with infections in my toes where she had left little slivers of nail behind. My current lady just cuts my nails straight across, rather than trying to cut the ingrowing bit out, and they're getting less and less problematic.

I don't live in London so can't recommend one, but I'd say go for it ... you have nothing to lose but your manky feet

Any qualified chiropodist should be able to help you. I need to visit one as otherwise I have horrible feet.

They do vary a bit. I went to one who charged £22 and just did a basic corn removal. Then I found a lady who charged £17 and did the corns, all the rough skin, trimmed and filed the nails and finished off with lovely cool foot cream. Absolute bliss, and she made me a cup of tea!

Yes, what you get for your money does vary a bit. My lady starts off with a foot soak, and ends with a massage, which is really nice. The lady I went to before just did the nail trimming, hoof reducing, corn blasting stuff.

As long as you go for someone who is a State Registered Chiropodist you'll be fine.

OK - so, I look for a State Registered one. Where do I look? Is it just a matter of opening the phone book? I really have no idea....

Looking for a good chiropodist to give my feet a major clean up before the summer. No massive issues, just winter feet!

Seems to be a shortage round here, recommended ones not taking on new people I hear. In previous location, I went after having toenail removed by GP, which grew back fungal, but was sadly messed about and gather she'd prefer not to deal with problem feet.
Found another female in nearby town, then found only her husband was available, and then only at lunchtimes when there was no-one else around, so gave up going.

Would prefer to have someone else do toenail cutting, but not had much luck in the past and not yet found one in this location. Good luck.
