Very red and swollen cheeks - any ideas?

My 6 year old DD has had a virus for a few days with flu-like symptoms, a 12-hour spell of persistent vomiting which has now stopped but she had really bright red cheeks which are obviously swollen around her jaw line which I presume is her glands. The redness improves when her temperature is down but is still there and when she is due for more calpol/nurofen her whole cheek is beetroot like. Does anyone know what this is or is it likely to be just another symptom of this horrid virus - I havent consulted my GP or anything yet as I suspect there is nowt they can do.

Sounds like Slapped Cheek/Fifth Disease or Scarlet Fever which is related to Strep throat and vomiting is another common symptom of it. If the latter she may well need AB's.

So do you think GP then I should I leave it and see how she goes?

GP - they can do a swab to check.
