I decided to give up booze as was getting silly. This was last week.
Couple of days later headache started (never get headaches normally. never)

This morning seemed better, but now have given up tea and headache back with a vengeance.

Clearly withdrawal symptoms. How long do they last? It's killing me. Like a terrible hangover without the fun.

Maybe it'd be better to cut down on the tea before you cut it out completely? I drink a lot of tea and when, rarely, I haven't had a cup for a day, I get a stinking headache.

Other than that, are you drinking enough water instead of the tea? Dehydration gives you terrible headaches.

piffle · 09/11/2005 14:04

I'd stay on one cup of tea, I get bad headaches when I do it too, have learned to keep down to one cup of tea first thing and one very weak wine and soda during the witching hour (5.30-6.30)
I also make sure I drink 1.5 ltrs water a day although I still got a migraine doing that 2 weeks ago.

been drinking gallons of herbal tea. not really a heavy tea drinker anyway, maybe 3 cups a day. It's part of my diet so I want to stick to it, just wondered how much longer I had to suffer (wry smile emotican)

I'm losing weight easily and still drinking my tea

ernest · 09/11/2005 14:22

how, cos I'm not loosing weight easily hence the new attempt at this headache inducing diet. I'm not missing my tea (or booze) but could do without the headache. seriously - how are you loosing easily?? I need facts & figuers. current weight, goal weight, amount you're loosing method etc etc. I must be doing something wrong

Am watching this thread with interest!

(turns and runs a mile!)

When I gave up caffeine it took about 4 to 5 days to stop feeling like I was coming down with something. Persevere - it really is worth it - you never wake up in the morning desperate for a hit of coffee, or start getting a headache because it's been a few hours since your last cup.

Just don't replace liquid caffeine with chocolate like I did (took another 4 to 5 days to detox from that as well).

I've been excercising alot though-would love to be able to drop the alcohol and caffeine just like that but am afraid both are a bit of a crutch since I stopped smoking 8 months ago! Lame excuse-I would rather lose the weight though! Keep going and let me know how much you lose as an incentive for me to give it a go!

Enid · 10/11/2005 09:42

takes about 2 days to clear, then you'll get spots

make sure you are drinking plenty of water

this time next week you will be glad youve done it

piffle · 10/11/2005 09:47

given up booze, I drunk a lot so that was why the weight came off easily at first
I have not got much to lose in the whole scheme of things, maybe 3-4 kgs for now.
Healthy breakfast 9used to be toast and butter)
No takeaway curries (used to 1 a week)
No Beer used to drink 3 cans a night of half bottle of wine. No drink a very weak wine and soda while detoxing I am sure I was that close to having a drinking problem.

And no nibbling, nice big healthy lunch but with things I like
Dinner sensible cuts of meat, with lots of veg and salad
No wheat, no dairy, no potatoes,
And 2L of water
Have lost 1.2 kgs in 10 days, waist seems a lot smaller already.
Am joining gym very shortly expect that to turn me into Kate Moss (without the habit lol)

dropinthe · 10/11/2005 09:48

Think KM's habit is what kept her skinny!

dropinthe · 10/11/2005 09:49

Saint piffle-you deserve a knighthood for that little lot! Are you enjoying life?

piffle · 10/11/2005 09:59

It's not so bad
I like porridge just had to learn to like it wirh ricemilk and berries not sugar and cream
I must say getting up is a lot easier without a bellyful of booze the night before.
I was already quite healthy as follow GI diet in principle and we get an organic veg box and meat box too. That has helped as you cook what you get, not get what you want to cook
Christ I sound so bloody sanctimonious
and holier than thou.
Actually main motivation is to get dp inspired enough, he needs to lose 2 stone, but lacks willpower and discipline as he works away 3 days...

ernest · 10/11/2005 15:59

bloody hell, i reckon we're twins, except i'm the fat one. i'm pretty much doing the same as you (not cut out all dairy/pots/bread, but limited & only wholemeal, actually, now given up tea, probably don't eat any dairy?)
so why's my weight not dropping off then? I've got about 7 kilos to loose, but my dealine is next Thursday, so don't think I'm gonna make it.
am glad am doing it, do feel better already, apart from the raging head ache of course
