Baby keeps gurgling/wheezing - help!

My 8-wk-old for some reason keeps gurgling and wheezing in her sleep and waking herself up. And she's quite distressed as well when she wakes up - it's as if she's got some liquid in her lungs or something. Has anyone else come across this? Any idea what the problem might be? Not sure if this is normal or whether I should take her to a doc if it doesn't go by tomorrow...

newborns do have this - it is the amniotic fluid clearing from their lungs I think. But not sure about 8 weeks. Could you phone the hv or midwives at the hospital?

I must admit, I wouldn't be at all happy if that was my dd, Y1n. Maybe you could call NHS 24/Direct and ask them whether she needs attention now or whether it can wait until morning?

Hope you called - it really does sound like something on her lungs - ds had lots of lung realted probs and wheezing and gurgling sets my alarm bells ringing - take her to A&E if you cannot get in to your Docs - sometimes an X-ray will only show the true picture - stethascopes cannot always show the true picture
