Why do I have so many mouth ulcers? Nothing serious, right?

I have about 15-20 at the moment, have had this for over a week and more keep coming when old ones heal, obviously people have greater problems than this but it's sooooo uncomfortable. I'm a bit run down and have a cold, but I've had much worse so why I've got a mouthful of pinprick sores with this one is completely beyond me. I even have a couple right at the back of my tongue which makes eating and drinking a complete joy , lucky me.

However, a friend made a 'joke' yesterday about how it could be something much worse. Yes, I'm mostly sure he was messing with me, and it's completely stupid, but I've started obsessing about what horrible medieval illness they could be indicative of.

So please come and tell me what an idiot I am before I start googling and turn into a gibbering wreck. Or am I really going to turn into a mass of festering sores and then melt into a puddle of pus?

ime, it could be zinc deficiency or low immunity generally, thing is that many illnesses have similar set of symptoms from minor to major, I would start with minor :)

Ah yes, I'm definitely very run down, was going to buy something like Metatone or Berocca so I can at least feel like I'm doing something about it. No chance of actually sleeping as I have a toddler who thinks night-time is party-time at the moment.

I'm keeping well away from google right now, although I'm sure I saw on House once that mouth ulcers are indicative of lupus. But they think everything is a symptom of lupus on that show anyway, they'd probably be trying out some sort of horrific experimental therapy on me if I was there .
