Our five month old has had reccurent ear infections since September. His ear drum has burst twice already. Already he is on his fourth course of antibiotics.

Have looked at all the archived messages on ear infections which have been very helpful.

Have heard that this vaccine is supposed to be helpful in preventing the bacteria that cause ear infections. Any Mums of ear sufferers know where I can get it? Shall I just ask my -unhelpful- GP. Happy to go private. I'm based in London

Please help. Desperate to help my little boy.

My youngest had ear infections before he was one and was diagnosed with glue ear and so had grommets fitted (to get his hearing back)at one. still had infections but these not damaging to ear drums while grommets were in. They fell out 18months later and infections continued, so after trying everything with no result he was given the jab. This has stopped the infections but he has got glue ear again so going back for more grommets in the autumn so that his hearing picks up. I suggest you get pushy with your doc and insist on being sent to an ENT consultant. The audiology tests they do are not dependant on your child responding

My Dd had had a few ear infections, and one that managed to spread to her eyes and cause conjunctivitis.
She had the prevenar and hasnt had one since.
Go to your Gp, but as your baby is only 5 months you should be getting the jab on NHS soon anyway.
