ovarian ultra sound

I have had back and pelvic pain for a month now originally diagnosed as a urine infection (but urine test clear and no cystitis). I am on my 4th lot of different antibiotics, feeling bloated and tender. Doc said he would refer me for a routine ultra sound. How long do you think it takes to get a scan? I am 48, have four children, don't smoke or drink but actually getting a bit worried now

To add to confusion also in this month been diagnosed with stomach ulcer......never been to GP for years and then.....

Thanks

I think you should normally get a scan within about 2 weeks. You could always phone your surgery and ask the receptionist how long it will take. If it is going to take longer than this go back and complain about symptoms, particularly if they get worse as this could increase the urgency, and more importantly, reduce the amount of time you need to worry for.

Keep us informed.

All the best xx

depend on how long the waiting lists are, the requeste forms will be vetted by the sonographers or the drs and they will grade them as to the urgency to which is may be classed. if your having bloating a 2-4 week wait would be assigned to you in workolace. dont forget there are lots of bankholidays at the moment so there wont be a lot of scans getting done at the time being.
how are your periods? maybe fibroids pressing on your bladder??

I had an ultra sound earlier this year and was seen within 4 weeks, HTH

I had one too at the end of last year. About the same time scale as ivykaty. The nurse was lovely and even gave me an internal scan too just to put my mind completely at rest.
