Finger acting in a weird way after operation

Last Wednesday I had an operation in my hand/wrist for carpal tunnel release.

As told afterwards I have been moving my fingers a bit and getting some gentle movement back in my hand and wrist and it is mostly not really that sore.

Although my pinky finger is acting a bit weird, at the knuckle joint at the hand it is as if it is snapping back and forward rather than moving smoothly if you know what I mean, hard to describe.

Also if I try to make a fist normally, then I can't really, but once I snap my pinky into place, then I can, but it is like the rest of my fingers are stuck until the end one snaps.

I'm not due to see anyone else about my hand apart from the nurse a week tomorrow to get my stitches out, but not sure if I should maybe make an appointment for the dr to check it out?

Although at the same time I am aware that I am not yet a week post surgery and things might still be settling down so whether I should just wait and see, but I do think something isn't quite right!

XP has just dropped DD off, I asked him to look at it and see if he thought it seemed normal (not that he is in anyway medically trained) and he said "normal if you are a robot or have a mechanical hand!" Hmm So guessing not quite normal then!

Ok, I appreciate it's not the most exciting thread!! Grin

I'd go to the GP or ring the hospital - sounds like you might have some more swelling than normal and could do with a look.

Thanks, I think I might pop along to the gp tomorrow, you can turn up at morning surgery without an appointment. Just not sure if I am over reacting, but I guess there is no harm in getting it checked out.
