What housework helps you lose weight?

I have put on a lot of weight in a short time and am desperate to lose it! Unfortunately I work full time and have a 2yr old dd, so there is no time to go to gym etc. I was hoping to work out a schedule of chores to do each day which will be "exercise" and help me to lose weight. Can anyone help me with a routine for this? please.......

i imagine cleaning the bath and shower to be one of the better ones

hoovering

fitting a new kitchen or loft extention would be a winner

Cleaning windows and mirrors, scrubbing floors (good for toning arms), vacuuming (up and down the stairs especially), pretty much anything that warms you up and wears you out really!

Put some weights on your hoover-it will make it heavier to pull
Window cleaning...
Take items one by one up or down the stairs, this is great excercise.
When picking up 2 yr olds toys, do this 1 by 1 also, but as you bend down keep legs straight as if doing an exercise.

Not that I do this.........but need to.

scrubbing kitchen floor. washing down walls, washing windows, hoovering, fetching logs, scrubbing kitchen step, changing beds, cleaning shower/

umm all of it if you don't stop for buiscuits in the middle

Think your deluding yourself if you're looking at housework to help you loose weight. Sorry! Also exercise is not enough, take it from me (a runner) that you have to diet too.

Can't you go to the gym in the evenings or weekends?

Do you have any changing facilities at work (to enable you to go for a run at lunch time)

What about buying a rebounder for use at home?

maybe tackle a room a day and scrub, polish, sweep and mop! that should take about a hour a day........ must have some effect surely... and then like musiclover says..... sex sex sex

Yes but they had twin tub washing machines at the very best (a little more physical than an automatic)

and clothes mangles!

I think rationing (which lasted well into the 1950's) and lack of Macdonalds, Indian takeaways etc may have played a role

Women's mags are always giving you counts of how many calories ironing or hoovering uses up...I am always knackered doing housework!
