I had these as a early sign of pregnancy
'bumps' on your nipples - these are 'Montgomery's tubercules', which secrete an oily fluid in preparation for breastfeeding.

That is a little odd that they are outside the nipple. Have you shown them to your MW at a checkup?

jabberwocky · 01/11/2005 21:58

Meant to say outside the areola

I gained quite a few moles during pregnancy - a few under my breast and nearby. I don't think I had any actually next to the nipple (having a quick peer now ). I would definitely ask at your next check, but I think all sorts of skin changes in pregnancy turn out to be totally normal.

starlover · 01/11/2005 22:27

agree with frannyandzooey (salinger fan?)... i also got more moles and a few skin tags during pregnancy

looked it up and apparently it is quite common

magicfarawaytree · 01/11/2005 22:42

I got loads of extra moles during pregnancy and went to see a dermatologist. Apparently it is perfectly normal. If you have any concerns however it is always best to take a trip to see your gp they will easily set your mind at rest. btw there are several types of moles and they can look very different to each other but are still harmless - I even got had a mole appear in one of my stretch marks!!!

I did get some really weird skin stuff when I was pregnant, lisalisa. I even had these strange looking bloodblister like things on the inside of each hand at the base of my fingers, one on each hand. Dh called them my "stigmata" lol. No one ever figured out exactly what they were and they had to be frozen off eventually.

dobbin · 02/11/2005 20:57

lisalisa,
I think I may have the same thing. Mine are like little suntanned ladybirds. Very peculiar. I assumed they were just one of the souvenirs of pregnancy. I'd be interested to know what your MW says.

I had these too whilst pregnant. I got really worried about it, but being a bit of a prude I never dared to ask my midwife. They went away pretty soon after giving birth though.
