Will they cancel my laparoscopy due to pharyngitis?

As the title says really!

Started with really sore throat/ears/neck/glands and generally feeling unwell on Monday.

So I went to GPs this morning, as I am concerned that it may lead to my operation being canceled, Dr gave me anti-bs (7 day course) for pharyngitis

Is the laparoscopy likely to be canceled? If so would it be canceled due to taking anti-bs regardless of whether I feel well again?

I am panicking, as I have waited for ages for operation date to arrive and now its possibly going to have to be rescheduled Angry

I have no breathing difficulties by the way.

Any HPs around to help?

Thanks

So you'll have had 5 full days of antibiotics. I would have thought that you'd be ok so long as your symptoms had gone . Where I work we would still do it as long as you had no symptoms and your temp was ok. But might be worth giving the hospital a wee ring . Ultimately it will be up to the anaesthetist on the day.
Good luck!!

Thank Until, I have to ring to 'book in' on Fri afternoon anyway so will mention it then (hopefully without the croak!) Fingers Crossed!

I'd want to see you personally.

So you might get told to go along on Monday anyway only to get cancelled on the day by the anaesthetist. On the other hand you might look great and answer the myriad of questions that I expect they will ask you and get done. This is always a really hard call to make and is impossible to do over the internet.

Whatever you do don't pretend you've not been well..... you don't want an unintended ITU admission which could be the potential outcome of having a GA if you aren't really fit enough.

I had my op cancelled a few weeks ago for a slight sniffle. No sore throat, no temperature, clear chest - just a bit of a runny nose. I would give them a call because what you may not want to do is starve yourself for 12 hours, get up at the crack of dawn to get your family ready in order to get to the hospital for 8am, turn up, get clerked in, go through the forms, have your obs taken, get into your gown, see 5 different nurses/drs - tell them all when you last ate and drank - for the anaesthetist to say "no, i don't think we'll do it today". Believe me - it makes you rather angry.
