Hair STILL coming out!

Hiya. About three months after having my daughter I suffered from the usual post partum hair loss. This stopped after a while.....but then started again! My daughter is now nearly 15 months and my hair is STILL coming out!

I have been to the doctors and had one blood test which came back perfectly normal. They tested for loads and loads of things and it was all normal. The only thing that was a bit low was white blood cell count. The doc said he strongly suspects this is because I am afro-carribbean and low white count is very common. Not that it affects your life at all. It is just a ethinic difference. He is going to test it once more just to make sure.

If it all comes back normal again then I just dont know what to do!!

Has anybody experienced hair loss for this length of time??? If so when did it stop?

Cheers :-)

Antoinettex

Can't help or advise I'm afraid but I still seem to be losing quite a lot of hair too, and ds is 16months. I think it did ease off for a while but recently got worse.
Will probably mention it when I next go to the GP (although not sure when that will be)

All of my hair fellout when my dd was 9 months old. This coincided with falling pg again so i wasn't sure if it was an ante or post natal problem. 5 months later I had lost my eyebrows and most of my body hair.
I was diagnosed with alopecia universalis by a dermatologist who told me it would never grow back. It did grow back but now that ds is 5 months old it seems to be falling out again in small patches.
I am devastated by the prospect of being bald again and having to wear headscarves and hats all the time. I found the whole experience very traumatic last time. This post probably doesn't help you in any way and I wish I could offer you something positive! Do you have any bald patches or is your hair thinner all over?

all my hair fell out, luckily in patches even though some were quite big patches but it did in time all grow back, but when my hair is wet it is really curley.

it's so hard to offer advice because there are differant reasons why our hair falls out, sometimes it falls out after having a baby, that is very common and something you shouldn't really worry about.

mine fell out due to an electric shock. it is the worst thing to happen to a women ,you loose confidence big time, you feel like everyone is looking at you and you can't stop thinking about it, but one thing, which i know is hard, try not to worry yourself to much because worrying will only make it worse.

i found an article in a womens magazine it had a huge write up on a hair recovery product called nourkrin it has a huge sucess rate in reducing hair loss and promoting existing hair growth. i have deceided to give it a go as my hair is still thin and falls out loads every day.don't know of anything else to try. if you type in nourkrin into your internet search bar it should bring up the site ,then you can have a good read up and maybe it could be the answer to all our prayers lets hope so. thinking of you all, i know whats it's like.

Sorry you're going through this, I know how upsetting it can be. Mine fell out quite badly after delivery of DD for about six months, then a bit less for a few more months, then sort of went back to normal. I'm an older Mum (43 when DD was born) so I thought maybe my hormones were slower to recover than most, but don't really know. Are you breastfeeding? Mine got better after I stopped.

Hiya, I went through this too. Obviously I have no idea if our problems are the same, but thought I'd tell you about it anyway (it was resolved very simply).
I hav pp hair loss at about 4.5 months, lasting about 6 weeks. But at about a year I started losing my hair again. It was much heavier hair loss, and lasted much longer. Also there was a dramatic loss of condition. I left it about 4 months before I went to the docs as it seemed a bit trivial, but that's just me! The loss was even all over, ie no patches, which is aparrently good.
Doc sent blood tests for thyroid function and full blood count. They all came back normal, but she said my iron levels were at the lower end of normal (11 on a scale of 10-200).
She advised floradix, and at the same time I started taking an omega 3 supplement on a friend's advice. Almost overnight my hair went back to normal.

hth.
