It has a real name I can't remember & I need it Blush

Also is there a 'proper' name for a twisted thigh bone?

Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH)

persistent femoral anteversion - twisted thigh bone

KatyMac · 04/04/2011 21:49

Thanks - might there have been a 'congenital' in there somewhere?

& would 'persistent femoral anteversion' have been a description used in the late 60s/early 70s?

DDh is often known as congenital but I think that just means 'from birth' so I guess it depends when it's occurred.

No idea about when the PFA term would have been used, sorry.

"Snapping hip" is when the bone catches on the large muscle or ligament at the top of the femur. I have had bones shaved to improve this.

I had bilateral femoral anteversion - called "inward rotating hips" when I was young, and I attended the DDH/CDH clinic (Developmental or Congenital Disorder of Hip).

I didn't think his thigh bone was the same as my hips but they must have been

Thanks guys

I had (or still have) clicky hips.........

I had this as a baby (treated with splints) and it was always described as congenital dislocation of both hips, although congenital just means that I was born with it. Think it is now mainly referred to as hip dysplasia.

I had a 'pavlic' harness I think

So did DD

Oh well I guess it's in my notes; but I've put it in the info for the consultant tomorrow (save him trawling through pages of Katymac being poorly)
