anal fissure/LIS before pregnancy?

I wondered if anyone had had this problem and what course of action you took?

I have chronic anal fissure for the last 5 years, current case is especially bad, no healing for 4 months. Previous cases all healed spontaneously within a week or two so I had not seen a doctor before. Have been given glycerol trinitrate ointment (Rectogesic) and been taking stool softeners. It will sometimes get better for a week or so (no pain or bleeding) then worse again. I have an appointment with a colorectal surgeon in two weeks.

Anyway, my question is this: I was hoping to start TTC before this all started, but have now stopped. In so much pain all the time, I hardly feel like having sex anyway! Obviously I'm aware that constipation and fissure can get worse during pregnancy and due to childbirth. Did anyone have this condition before pregnancy and were you able to take any precautions to stop it recurring or any associated medication during pregnancy?

I am assuming that I am going to end up having BOTOX or a lateral interal sphincterotomy. If anyone had either op before a pregnancy, did your healing last throughout pregnancy or did you get any more flareups despite having the operation?

Feeling thoroughly miserable and anxious. Doesn't help that I can't drink alcohol or eat anything nice without making it much worse!!
