Indigestion/heartburn........how bad can it be?

Last night dp said he had heartburn, I thought nothing more of it and went to bed (I'm caring like that ) Later when he came to bed - about an hour or so - he was out of breath and sounded like me with asthma and the pain in his chest was so bad he kept holding his breath till it passed - I thought he was having a geart attack! Does indigestion really get that bad or should he be seeing someone?

I told him to call a doc but he kept saying he was fine - but he wasn't!

Indigeation can be that bad - my boss has a hiatus hernia and has attacks like this. Also my DD has an oesophagel motility disorder and also gets non-cardiac chest pains which are like a heart attack.

But he should get it checked out as diagnosis shouldn't be being made or reassurance taken from an internet board!!

He should see someone to make sure its nothing else, heart burn can be that bad, i get it so bad at times that it hurts to much to breath, it can feel like your having a heart atack, best to get it checked out though.

Many people who go to a&e thinking it is their heart are in fact having severe indigestion You can buy OTC tablets now which really work Zantac.But he should also get it checked just to be safe xxx

I dont mean to worry you at all, Is he idabetic. Reaosn i asked was my dad(diabetic) thought he was having heart burn when he was having a heart attack. He survivied and it he didnt have pain because of the nerve endings not really working because of the diabeties.

My advice is to get it checked out.
