Sealed off smoking room?

We live in a two storey terraced house with converted attic. DH wants to seal the attic door and use the attic as a smoking room.

He has a disability that means that (a) giving up smoking would be difficult, if not impossible and (b) he often finds it hard to go outdoors to smoke.

So, would having a sealed off smoking room like this still be dangerous in a house where children live?

I think you would find the smoke would still end up in the house TBH. Even with some some of extractor fan thingy.

Wouldn't going up into the attic be a lot more trouble than going outside? And noisy?

And what medical condition makes it harder to give up smoking?!! The smell will still escape and pollute the rest of the house.

FrancesFarmer · 31/03/2011 10:13

BluddyMoFo, he has schizophrenia and has paranoid thoughts when outdoors.

I'm also curious about which disability makes it hard for him to stop smoking! I also think that unless you have an industrial extraction fan you are going to make your house stink of smoke.

FrancesFarmer · 31/03/2011 10:15

Bert2e - smoking actually alleviates some of the effects of schizophrenia.

There you go - you learn something every day! But the house will still stink :-(

I was going to say MH, I was advised by doctors not to give up smoking when I was ill.
I think the smell will escape sorry, also I'd have thought it was a fire risk in the attic possibly? What room of your house is the back door in iyswm?
