disgusting taste in mouth - any clues

and no, I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant - that was my first thought too.

Had this for a few days - nasty metallic bitter taste in my mouth. Breath itself does not smell (have asked DH to check!) but the taste makes everything I eat taste foul and is also making me particularly thirsty. Am otherwise fit and well.

Strangely I started taking some multivitamin tablets and some zinc tablets at the weekend, but am 99% sure the yukky taste started before this, although I suppose it could be making it worse.

Any ideas on what this is, or what I could try to get rid of it - I've not changed anything else - diet, toothpaste etc.

Its even putting me off my cups of tea, which makes it very serious in my book. Wink
Thanks.

Have you eaten anything with pine nuts recently? here

Imnotaslimjim · 30/03/2011 18:26

If not the pine nuts, do you suffer with tummy issues? I get a horrid taste if I forget my omeprazole for my than a day and my reflux kicks off (got GERD and hiatus hernia)

Are you certain it doesn't smell? Try licking your hand, let it dry then smell it. If its bad, you'll know

That's really interesting about pine nuts, though not sure I've eaten any recently.....no no diagnosed tummy trouble as such .
will check again with DH re breath - I've a very very weak sense of smell.

Sure you've not had any pesto or pine nut salad from tescos?! If not, could you be pregnant?

NoWayNoHow · 30/03/2011 22:08

Got to agree with others, sounds like classic pine mouth to me - you eat dodgy pine nuts, and 3-5 days later you develop a FOUL bitter taste every time you eat or drink anything...

Littlefish · 30/03/2011 22:08

I had this once and it turned out to be a gum infection. Could you go and see your dentist?

AimingForSerenity · 30/03/2011 22:09

Have you altered your diet? Some types of diet can do this.

Also some medicines. There is a sleeping tablet called Zopiclone that is well known for it.

I get a horrible taste when I'm ill.

Also, low-carbing can bring it on - it's one sign that your body is in ketosis (i.e. fat-burning).

have you had a cold could be sinus related
