I havent but just been prescibed seropram, so if and when I take them I'll let you know.

I have had prozac for pnd and since trying to get insurance it has come up, again and again. If you take it you will find that it will reappear when you come to buy life insurance, mortages etc. Wish i had never taken it.

When i got li i got detailed questionaires asking if i had tried to commit suicide, if i was going to again, how my mental state was - not nice.

Have you tried natural remedies such as changing your diet, contraception and taking evening primrose or st john wort if you are depressed (if on the pill will reduce effectivness). i would recommend evening primrose and change of diet that is what worked for me.

i wouldn't use anti-depressants for pmt. it is not a miracle cure and for a lot of people it doesn't even work,
there are many side effects as well... and obviously the problems which jellyjelly has pointed out

it definitely would NOT be my first port of call!

Ads are very, very strong; even for severe PMT it would be a bit like using a sledge hammer to crack a nut.

The side-effects from ads can far outweigh any benefit that you might get as far as your PMT is concerned. They can actually make you feel suicidal, and even if they don't they can make you feel really rough. I spent 10 months taking ads, and every time I turned my head I got what felt like an electric shock through my brain. They can be most unpleasant.

Have you tried evening primrose oil, or vitamin B6? They're meant to be really good for PMT - without the nasty side-effects.

thanx for the advice everyone!Especially jellyjelly. Never thought it could have such an impact. Will defo try primrose oil, already on the B6, not sure what diet changes though, any suggestions

My PMT was a nightmare,so much so my ex husband put it in petition when divorcing me.I was a fitness fanatic and ended up in PMT support group.PMT improved 90% by just changing diet, eating little and often, and if you think you are overeating you are not!!!So many people now comment how i am always
eating! Some suggestions for snacks:banana, flapjack, yoghurt, fruit scone,bagel-all good healthy stuff you can put in with babys stuff when you go out.If you are hungry eat! do not put it off as your mood will really plummet.
There is a place for Prozac, everyone is different-I was lucky that diet worked for me.Hope
you find something that suits you, just do not do what i use to (eat entire packets of chocolate biscuits when hungry!!!)

I think they have their place and I am so glad i could help. I find that eating and being healthy works the best ie not drinking when i know i will have it, going to bed earlier and cutting out salt and junk food.

I am now on the hormone coil and i dont really have pmt often, i know that if i have too many takeaways or processed food and drink too much i will get it back(having said that now i am a parent i am looking after myself much more and dont drink hardly - it and salt were the main culprits).

Are you on the pill, as i believe that alot can help pmt.

You can get alot of really good books, why dont you go to the libaryand read up about it. You will feel so much better for cutting out the junk.

If you want anymore advice cat me.

It would also be good to keep a diary of how you are feeling for a couple of months along wiht diet sheets so you can see what you are eating.
