About six weeks ago had a weekend when I felt unwell and had stomach upset. Since then I am suffering with bloating, severe some days, and diarreah every day. Can't seem to work out any triggers. Doctors gave me some tablets but read side effects were bloating... I am already struggling to fit in my waistbands... if I bloat anymore will need a new wardrobe :(:(

Go back and demand a referal to a gastroenterologist. You shouldn't have to put up with this. I hope you find some answers soon Sad

Are you rushing to the loo each time?

I ask because some years ago I had a really nasty tummy bug that just wouldn't go away, no matter how many Imodium I took. Eventually I had to provide a stool sample (ugh) and it turned out to be a parasitic infection in my gut called giardiasis. It's normally caught abroad but must have come from unclean practices at somewhere I ate out/ a takeaway Shock

Definitely ask your GP for tests, that's too long to suffer.

Yep going to phone in the morning for test. What did they do to get rid of parasitic infection? Did you get bloating too?

Sorry, don't want to scare you but please ask your doctor to rule out ovarian cancer. It's ovarian cancer awareness month, which is the only reason it occurred to me. Link www.ocam.org.uk

Yes, felt very uncomfortable

A big dose of antibiotics worked in the end. I'd been given the same ones early on but they hadn't worked as it was a shorter course IIRC, so it subsided slightly then carried on as before.

The worst thing was the urgency- I'd go from thinking I need to go to panicking that I wouldn't actually make it within minutes. Had to use some truly awful public toilets on several occasions Sad

I hope that your GP sorts this out for you. Don't be fobbed off.

Got blood tests next week. Hopefully will find the cause :(

If your bloods come back normal and your symptoms continue go back to your GP. I was told that as nothing showed up in my blood my constant trips to the loo were "highly unlikely to be anything serious". I had bowel cancer :(

The hospital told me that GPs are now supposed to test for bowel cancer after 4 weeks of symptoms. It's a new test, very simple- basically involves smearing poo on a slide.

tallulah has a good point.

I don't want to worry you, my lovely friend is 28, she's just finishing chemo for bowel cancer. The only symptom she had was bloating. She went to A&E as she'd just found out she was pregnant and thought it was an ectopic Sad I'm not saying you have this, you need checking over though.
