How did it go? Did you find them helpful?

TIA

They are very common in Germany I noticed. In fact my dd was the only nipper I knew without them and it's not just a girly thing. I am not that convinced it made much (or any) difference since she seemed to teethe quite easily and no worse than any of her bead-sporting pals.

What, to chew on?

iskra · 25/03/2011 11:07

I know lots of people who used them. I think it's one of those things where once they are on you are too scared to take them off in case they are making a difference!

No, you're not supposed to chew on them. They are supposed to be analgesic for teething pain for some reason. Healing power of crystals sort of stuff.

singersgirl - its a necklace to wear. Supposedly safe as it is knotted between each bead and is designed to 'break' if pressure is put on it.
Not to be worn when child is unattended.

My 3rd DC 6months is suffering when the others didn't and another school mum mentioned them.

Works like chrystals, ore, copper I think. Like iskra says,

iskra - I think I would be so worried about strangulation risk they would be on off, on off, on off. Probably more hassle than they are worth!

Erm...that's clearly woo, then. What kind of analgesic properties can semi-precious stones worn round the neck have? Babies are too young for the placebo effect to work, though I guess it might work on the parents.
