Yeah it's great fun.. try it. I did it for a few weeks, it's great as an introduction to exercise especially if you are needing the motivation. The only problem I had was that it was soo fast I couldn't keep up for the first couple of weeks and then I found I needed something a bit more conventional to work me a bit harder!! But defo try it..Grin

I must be one of the very few that hated it, I much rather the aerobics/LBT etc. I found the music really irritating after a while and didnt feel any benefit. I found because the instructor doesnt talk your not picked up enough on proper posture all I was doing was concentrating on the woman next to me.

There isnt any control or resistance excercises. I even tried the aqua version that that was awful. The speed of the moves wasnt possible in the water. Again aqua aerobics better.

Not for me.

Another vote for giving it a go. It's pleasant and gets you motivated to exercise. I would have preferred something a little dancier but its a whole lot better than aerobicx.

Ooopsadaisy · 23/03/2011 11:38

Zumba is great.

Be prepared to shake your arse and not care who's looking. I mean really shake it. Make sure you hold your abs in all the time, too.

We have a great time - loads of laughs when we get it wrong and end up shaking everything in the wrong direction.

All ages/sizes/fitness levels at our class. Very friendly.

Seona1973 · 23/03/2011 12:16

it depends on the instructor. The one at the sports centre was rubbish but I go to a different one now who is great. She is also a dance teacher and has all the moves - we get an energetic workout to some great music. I agree with the shaking your butt (and boobs!)

OnEdge · 23/03/2011 12:28

Hmmm, i just cant decide now.
i ought to go and see some instructors in action but i dont have time to drive into town to do things like that. I just want a good work out that will burn some calories.

just go and try it out - if you dont like it dont go back

AnyoneForPimms · 24/03/2011 11:52

I love it, it's the only exercise I look forward to.
The instructor is brilliant and the music additive.
Go on give it a go, you'll love it Wink

shouldnthavegoogled · 24/03/2011 12:10

I love it - it is a great pick me up , especially after a hard day with the kids. It does depend on the instructor - my regular one is amazing, very high impact, fast paced. I tried another oneonce and it was very low impact and quite frustratingly slow. So it does depend on who you get.

AnyoneForPimms · 24/03/2011 14:07

I agree.
I have been going for awhile to the same class and it's the same every week and very low impact.
I tried another as she was starting a new morning class. It's brilliant and I enjoy it far more and feel it's working me harder

bibbitybobbityhat · 25/03/2011 16:50

TLES - I've been looking for a Zumba class in my area and I think I live near you. Would you be prepared to pm the details of where you go?

TheLadyEvenstar · 25/03/2011 16:53

Bibbity, yes I will do so now. If you are close we meet on a Wednesday at 7.45 and have a coffee before starting at 8pm. Grin
