Brain tumour during pregnancy

Bic29 · 23/03/2011 07:27

I am 3 months pregnant with my first child. On Saturday, my partner was woken by me having a seizure. I was rushed to hospital where I found out 2 things: baby is alive and well :) nd I have a lesion on my brain, which is probably a tumour Shock The good news is that it's in a part of my brain that doesn't do much! Has anyone got any experience of this themselves or through friends?

I'm sorry I have no experience of this, but just wanted to say that I hope everything works out. The medical technology now is excellent and I'm sure they can do something without harming the pregnancy.

Good luck with it all.

I have, in my previous job, treated a few ladies with brain tumours when they were pregnant. After the first 12 weeks, babies are very resilient to their mother having a general anaesthetic and even radiotherapy when needed.

Good luck !

Thank you for your comments. It really helps to hear from complete strangers, especially the one who recommended mumsnet to me.

might be an odd post, but my mum had a brain tumour which came on whilst pregnant with me, I was fine and didn't suffer at all cos of it.

A friend at school had a brain tumour. V frightening for her and her family at the time so can imagine it has been a massive shock. It was all removed and was non-malignant. Hope you get a good result, congrats on your pregancy and glad baby is OK.

Terribly tough time for you - but CMO's comments must provide some relief for you. Hope things progress well on both fronts! Smile
