Sounds a bit like impetigo to me.

WigWamBam · 25/10/2005 20:08

Sorry, lost the second half of my post then!

As I said, it sounds like impetigo to me - if it is then you'll need to see the GP for some antibiotic cream. It's very infectious so you'll need to be really careful about having separate towels and flannels for her.

ohhhh god.
but wwb, ds had this about a month or so ago, and he had it all over. she only has the one spot.

It starts with only one spot and gets bigger - the weepy stuff spreads it to other patches.

kcemum · 25/10/2005 20:19

Agree with WWB, it sounds very much like impetigo.

thanks wwb
isnt life with kids just plain wonderful?

It's brilliant, isn't it - one round of grottiness after another!!

Have you got any of the cream left that you used to treat your ds? I'd be tempted to use some on your dd until you can get her to the GP.

no, he had oral antibiotics.
she has got an appointment for tomorrow morning though. fortunatly managed to get stressed enough about it before the surgery shut today.

Hope she gets on ok - impetigo is miserable.

PrincessSmartyPants · 25/10/2005 22:10

does sound like impetigo which is very common on ends of noses apparently. My ds (who has not got the best nose in the world after years of rugby) got it on the end of his nose. It was so red it flashed! It did clear up very quick with antibiotics tho'
Good luck

WigWamBam · 26/10/2005 20:52

How did she get on, stitch?

TinyGang · 26/10/2005 20:59

Just swooping in with my blue light flashing and my Impetigo diagnosis. I am now an expert having just emerged from a very steep learning curve on this. Horrible, but at least it moves quickly once you get the AB's.

stitch · 28/10/2005 09:45

she's much better thank you. since starting on the antibiotics its shrinking, and no longer weeping. hopefully will be gone soon. fortunately she likes the taste of the ab
