metronidazole - advice please on side effects (nausea)

I have an abscess in my gum and the dentist lanced it yesterday morning and prescribed Metronidazole. I've taken 3 so far and now I'm feeling really nauseous, thank god it's the weekend so I can curl up on the sofa.

I don't want to stop taking them but I can't feel like this until the end of the course (5 days).

Does anyone know if it will ease off or has it set in for the duration?

I didn't get an information leaflet with the tablets so I've been trawling the NHS website for info, it does say nausea is a side effect (as well as some other nice-sounding ones Hmm) but not whether it's transient.

It's vile, sorry. It makes me feel crap. You just need to keep taking them.

It is important not to combine alcohol with metronidazole. (not suggesting that you are you understand Grin)

I already resigned myself to a weekend with no Wine, most unfair of the dentist to prescribe it on a Friday, I thought!

Bugger. I hoped this feeling would go away after a while.

I could not physically swallow food when I was on them, I could just about manage to drink some milk

They are the nastiest ABX IMO, they are also very effective against anaerobic infection. Suck it up.
