Had a back problem for nearly 18months now.
Prolapsed disc ,which then punctured and dehydrated.
Lots of pain ,had facet joint injections last June,(seemed to help)followed by phsyio.
Move on to Jan this year pain staring to return with avengence and my mobility getting worse again. Need more intervension, but reacted to sedation last time so waiting for tests about that !!
TMI alert!! Over last week or two I'm needing to wee much more often and not getting any warning iyswim, also bowels seem very active but not upset. Scared now its cauda equina, but don't want to be laughed out of GP's either.
Sorry about the essay there

Went to the GP, initially thought UTi ,but thats been ruled out.
He is not happy with symptoms ,will fax my surgeon on Monday, but if I get any worse at all must see OOH service over weekend.
I should feel reassured ,but somehow don't Hmm

OK - you saw the GP

He wasn't worried enough to do anything today, but told you to monitor it

It's not good but it's not awful either or you would be in hospital now

KatyMac · 21/03/2011 12:00

How are you today?

cauda equina's scary, but usually presents more drastically too. I'm not a medic, but was admitted to hospital with suspected cauda equina, so know a fair bit. This site gives you more detail, so might reassure?

Definitely go see Surgeon though - I'd guess you need an MRI to see why the pain's increasing. Sounds like maybe the disc prolapse has worsened.
