Is it ok to work on abs when you have your period?

This month im carrying on with exercise instead of stopping for these few days as i have heard it helps with pain. Im not sure if i should do sit ups or anything like that though seeing as i have pain and period is very heavy (sorry TMI), would you leave those for a few days or carry on? I really want to do them after i discovered today that i fit into size 12 tops again!! Grin Grin
