Cost of dental implant

I had an implant done several years ago and its been very good. Now my DH needs one on a front canine. Does the estimated cost of £3,000 sound right to you? Views welcome. I know you can't get these on the NHS unless you've had a traumatic accident, so we're only looking at private care for this.

My DH had a dental implant on one of his front teeth, probably about 6 years ago now. Think it cost him in total about £1,500 through his own dentist. Well worth the money, as originally he had a false tooth there which used to keep falling out and he kept super-gluing back in!

I was quoted £3k recently for a double implant, but looked around on the net and £1.5k was more like it?

Sounds weird but if you have a dental college nearby (or even not nearby - it could be worth travelling) then you can get it done much cheaper.

A friend was in an accident and had a lot of dental work damaged - crowns and a couple of old implants - and he went to a college (not sure which one) and had all of the work done at half what his dentist had quoted.

Thanks both. I'll let DH know.

Up here in Scotland its about £2k however I know that some of the practices charge consultation fees to discuss etc which add to bill and lots of other extra's so you need to know how much it is start to finish - you also need to make sure his jaw bone is suitable ie bone density etc -
