Biopsy on dh's pancreas

Am so so worried at the moment, my dh had a hosp appt last Thurs for an endoscopy. Whilst there he was told his pancreas looked v.withered & an unusual shape so they did a biopsy on it & said the results would take 5-10 days. So far we've heard nothing & I am absolutely worried sick about the outcome. Things have been so stressful & last night my oldest dd (11) overheard a conversation we were having about it all & she's now convinced he's dying. She confided in a teacher at school today & at pickup I was called in. This made me burst into tears as I just couldn't cope with it all. Just needed to vent all this Sad

Vent away - no words of wisdom other than just keep talking to your family with honesty.

We hada relative with Pancreatic cancer It is a RARE type of cancer and not much is known about it so they would look just to be on the safeside. We saw Professor Cunningham at the Royal Marsden Hospital re this and he was great : recommend this hospital if things go further but it is uncommon condition with main occurence in oldermen

lilyliz · 05/04/2011 20:15

celebin pancreatic cancer is not that rare but is very difficult to diagnose and treat. My late DH family has lost many members to this youngest 36yrs,my DH was 55.

DearLilyliz
So sorry to hear about your family with panc cancer It is still not as common as some of the other cancers so you have been very unlucky. We found the speed of the decline -all over in 6 months-so shocking and the lack of medical facilities for cancer patients even more shocking

My dad had pancreatic cancer peacenow, i can understand why you are worried sick :( Hope everything is ok and it turns out not to be anything like that.

methodsandmaterials · 08/04/2011 22:57

peacenow I'm sorry that you're going through this.
A biopsy doesn't always imply that they are looking for a tumour. Your husband's doctors are simply taking a small sample of pancreatic tissue for further analysis so please don't automatically think cancer.
I hope that you receive reassuring news soon.
