My DD has weird shaped toenails

DD is 17 months, and she has very weird shaped toenails. They where fine when she was born, and they kind of gradually deformed. I am not sure if its something I can ask the HV visitor about, we don't have a visit planned soon and not sure if this is something to worry about or not.

Could it be lack of some nutrient? DD eats very well, although not the half pint of milk recommended but I give her cheese and yogurts to try to meet her calcium needs.

Her shoes are also ok, got her feet measured and shoes bought in Clarks.

Looked in google (I know is not always a good idea) and saw that deformed toenails can be a symptom for some illnesses. Thats why I asked here before getting too alarmed.

Thank you for reading and I will appreciate your comments on this.

No idea but bumping because my nearly 3 yo DS has this on some of his toenails, too. He drinks loads of milk so I don't think his can be a calcium deficiency. I've never asked the GP or HV about it Blush although it has crossed my mind.

My DD and DS had this, they were kind if inverted if that makes sense. Doctor said it was fine as long as they eventually grew out of it, she referred to it as "spoon shaped" or something similar, hope that helps...

mmm not sure if its the same thing. I will just take her to HV just in case, but thanks!

both dd and my friends dd (aged 3) have bizarre toenails too!

middle toenail is sort of'S' shaped and thickened int he middle of the S. couple of other toenails bend into the toe like a claw, and the little toenail is well, just sort of a toothpick Grin

I think they sort themselves out as they get older and bigger
