Periods changed after childbirth

I used to have quite light but long periods, but since have dd2 they have changed completely. I now have a shorter period of bleeding, a lot lot heavier and for about 3 days I have such awful pains in my tummy, sometimes its even painful to sit down. DD2 is 18 months, noticed a slight change after DD1 who is 3 but more of a change after DD2. I reckon in all I am losing the same amount of blood, its just condensed down into a few days but its the pain that the problem. I havent been to the docs, just wondered if anybody else has experienced a change.

jenkel - my dd is 18 months and I am having 'condensed' periods too! I have had some pain, but mainly it's the heaviness I've noticed, and the shorter time. I don't remember any change after ds.

mine went the other way, from intense pain and really heavy bleeding for a week to no pain and three day bleeds. They used to be hideous involving me throwing up and fainting. Glad that's over!

Mine changed - I used to have a week of light bleeding, maybe once every 4 to 6 months, but when they came back after I had dd they were every 28 days, as regular as clockwork, and extrememly heavy. They settled down a bit after the first few months but they're still shorter and heavier than they were - and more painful.
