It's not for me, this advice, it's for my Dad.

He's almost 70, drinks every day starting at about 4pm. Probably 2 large Bacardi and squash, then a bottle of wine with dinner.
He will probably have another couple of Bacardis after that. At the weekend he drinks at least double this.

He falls asleep in his chair about 10 and goes to bed at about 11. He wakes up at 4am, every morning, cant get back to sleep so he goes back to the living room and watches tv til he's sleepy, then goes back to bed til about 7.30.

So he's so worried that he can't sleep, he went to the doctor who has given him sleeping tablets.
I am really worried.
I have dared him not to drink for a month - to see if this would help him sleep - but he won't. I have tried bribery. He doesnt think he drinks too much.
My mum has said it's up to him.

Does anybody have any advice?

My advice would be not to take sleeping pills and alcohol together, especially not in the ammounts that your dad is drinking. Is the GP aware of his drinking habits?

I think my dad was a bit "economical" with the amount that he drinks!
