Numb foot in the morning

I know this probably sounds really trivial but it's got me worried.

A few days ago I woke up in the morning with a completely numb right foot, it felt as if there was absolutely nothing below my knee. After much rubbing, it eventually started to feel normal and then got really bad cramps along my shin and foot.

Dp was laughing at me because apparently its 'normal in the mornings' but I was freaked out because it's never happened to me before. The same thing happened again this morning which has worried me even more.

I haven't changed my sleeping pattern, way I sleep (as far as I know) or anything so cant understand why this has randomly started happening. Does anyon know if there could be a more sinister reason behind it or am I worrying over nothing?

I would visit my GP, tbh. If its the same foot, and its happening more than once (which could be sleeping position, etc) it might be worth getting your circulation checked in that leg/foot?
